Not A Card

Hello to everyone in blogland, I hope you all had a very Happy Christmas and are looking forward to 2014. I have been busy crafting in one form or another as always just don't seem to get around to posting anything on my blog these days :(
Just thought I'd share with you the Christmas cake that I made this year as I am really pleased with how the decorations turned out (the cake itself tastes pretty amazing too).

I love both the Despicable Me films and am just a little bit obsessed with Minions. I can't take credit for the original idea though as I found an image of a Minion cake when trawling the internet one day and then after doing a search found a post on how to make Minion figures out of sugar paste. A lot of hours went into the making of this cake and I do have to say it was worth every moment as the response from family and friends has been amazing.

Bank Holiday

Well it just goes to show the effects of a little bit of extra time can do YAY!!! another post from little old me which also means another card :) The weather here in my bit of Cheshire hasn't been too bad over the BH weekend, Saturday was a bit grey but other than that it has been dry and today was HOT and SUNNY so of course it put me in the mood to make a Christmas card. I actually had a bit of a colouring day yesterday and coloured a number of images so this is the first card made from my colouring session.

The image used is Lili of the Valley 'Twinkling Star' which I have coloured (in what must be one of my favourite colour combinations) with my trusty ProMarkers and then liberally sprinkled with glamour dust the edges of the card the image is stamped onto is slightly distressed using Tim Holtz distress ink 'Faded Jeans'. The decorative card is from a pack called 'Silent Night' and the brand is 'First Edition' which I have to admit I had never heard of, I bought this pad last week from Range and I just love the muted colour palate. I think that a lot of my cards this year will have card from this pack incorporated into them somewhere, so much so that I think that I need to go and invest in a 2nd pad.
The sketch I have used is one of Dawny P's but not sure where I found it, have had a look on her blog (click on her name for the link) but it's not one shown on there so I must have found it on a challenge blog at some point. I haven't faithfully followed the sketch the ribbon embellishments, charm and gems are all me. The image and decorative card has been matt and layered onto plain card stock from my stash the ribbon, charm etc. are also from my stash.

Missing in Action

Well another posting famine from me :( I have very good intentions when I post and then within a few days my blog is again covered in dust and cobwebs. I have blown off the dust again and so hello blogging world. I have been busy crafting in one form or another making cards for friends and family and also my Christmas cards for this year I saw a post somewhere that said Christmas is only 17 weeks away eek!!! better get a shuffle on. I have also been making some decorative items for the house, little bird cages that I filled with artificial flowers and have hung from chains in the bathroom also x-stitching little welcome hangers with owls and hearts on which aren't finished yet but are looking soooo cute.
Anyway I have a card to share that I made last week and whilst trawling through blogland found that it would fit beautifully into this weeks challenge over at Lili's little faries challenge which is Vintage/Shabby Chic

The stamp used is 'best friends' which I have couloured with ProMarkers and then matt and layered onto kraft card and papers from my stash having slightly distressed all the edges with distress ink. I have added a piece of lace and a dye cut embellishment to which I have stuck some little lilac pearls.
The picture isn't the best but I still have no camera so it was taken on my phone. I also decorated the inside of the card and used a metal corner embellishment to emphasise the blank area for your message.

Snow......again!

Well it's been two months since I last posted and yes we are having snow again! Getting fed up with being cold and would like to think that we can't be that many weeks away from some warmer weather :)
Talking of warmer weather the challenge over at Lili's Little Fairies this week is Spring Colours and they are also having a design team call so am going to try my luck. If you are reading this post and you have never visited the Lili of the Valley on line shop then click on the link liliofthevalley.co.uk and have a look at all the gorgeous and cute images they have there, they will leave you drooling and wanting every single one. Looking for inspiration then go look at LOTV's Ideas to Inspire for beautiful and amazing card creations.
Anyway now for a card

The image is Lili of the Valley - Daisy Chain which I have coloured with ProMarkers, the background papers and card are all from my stash, as is the ribbon, buttons and gems. The little bit off lace peeking from the side of the vertical panel is from The Ribbon Girl the die is actually a snowflake die but the shapes remind me of flowers and I think it looks good across the bottom of the card with the tiny buttons and gems as flower centres. Sorry again for the poor picture quality but the camera is still not fixed.

Fingers crossed that I may be lucky enough to be chosen to join the Lili of the Valley design team and here's hoping that we have some warmer weather soon.

Even more snow

Yes it has been snowing here again for most of the day, the main roads are clear but it is a bit hairy getting off the side streets onto them.
I have finished off  the commission card a work friend asked me to make for her this evening. The person she wants it for has her own horse and is not a girly girl so I hope that Jane likes it when I take into work tomorrow.

The image is a digital one (not sure where I got it from), that I have coloured with my ProMarkers, the papers I have used are from Nitwits layered onto Kraft card and then edged with stickles. The tag is a die cut and the sentiment I found on the internet, I created a word document and then typed out the text so it would fit on the tag. The butterfly is one of my trusty Martha Stewart punches covered in stickles with a few gems added to the centre, the blue flower at the top of the tag is a brad from my stash as are the gems. The horseshoe is part of the digital image that I printed out separately and cut around.

Snow

Well Saturday is almost over and not got even a sniff of doing anything crafty at all :(
Have been out most of the day making the journey to see my eldest brother who is in hospital in Crewe with complications that he has developed following routine surgery on Friday 11th Jan. He is looking and feeling much better and should hopefully be home next week.
I was dreading the trip slightly due to the amount of snow we had yesterday and the fact that it was snowing again when we left home but we had no problems at all, the main roads were fine and the motorway was almost empty :)
So a day at home tomorrow card making as I have a commission to complete or do I mean start that has to be done by Friday so need to hitch my knickers up and get a shuffle on xx

New for me

I am feeling much better today, woke up this morning without coughing which is a first for a couple of weeks and took my last antibiotic this morning so hopefully this horrid infection is finally going.
The share today is a new style for me Clean and Simple (C&S) the challenge for this week over at Less is More is black and white with a touch/hint of colour although I have left it a bit late as the challenge closes in a few hours. Anyway this is what I came up with

sorry the picture isn't the best but having camera problems at present so am having to scan my cards and you just do not get the picture quality. For this card I used another stamp that I have owned for years it's an Inca Stamp called Daisy Squares which I stamped and then cut each individual flower image out, the flower centres I applied Buttercup Sparkles to (my hint of colour). I applied the images to a piece of plain white card after I had embossed just over half of the area with one of my Cuttlebug embossing folders, I then inked the card edges with black ink before applying the panel to the base card.

Pleased with this one

Well another day and another share. I am off work at the moment with some awful upper respiratory tract infection and laryngitis that I have had for nearly two weeks now and seem unable to get rid of so took a weeks holiday rather than go off sick and the antibiotics do seem to be working and I don't feel as ill as I did. My share for today is for the Penny Black Saturday Challenge and their challenge for this month is January Blues which is to say a card predominantly consisting of blue tones. It was nice to get my Penny Black stamps out and back into use as I haven't been inking them up for a while. I have to say that this card did challenge me as I don't think I have ever made a mainly blue card but have to say that I am really pleased with how it turned out.

The image is Penny Black 'Poppy fields' and the whole image other than the flesh tones is coloured in using a blue colour palate. I used my ProMarkers for this the grass, stems etc. coloured with Duck Egg, Turquoise and Marine and the little hedgehog with Blue Pearl and Cornflower. The flowers are coloured with Pastel Blue, Cyan and Aegean with the centres and stamens in Midnight Blue, as I said I am really pleased with the result. The background paper and card is from my stash as are the little pearls, the butterflies are Martha Stewart punches with glamour dust applied to the larger two. The bakers twine is from the Ribbon Girl and the fuzzy script type piece of card behind the little hedgy is my attempt at making a postcard. I finished the card off by decorating the inside like this.

New Year

Well another year has just begun (not quite sure what happened to 2012) and as last year I have decided to dust my blog down and blow away the cobwebs. I am looking forward to another crafty year ahead and although I may have neglected my blog in 2012 I did not neglect my crafting having a busy year making cards, cross stitching and re-discovering my love of knitting.
I am not going to make a new year resolution to update my blog more frequently (as that would just be a recipe for disaster), instead I am going to make a little promise to post here more often and to once again share my creations with the blogging crafty world.

So to start as I mean to go on here is a card that I made for a work colleague to give to her husband

The image is one I have owned for years and was purchased from Elzebells (sadly no longer trading) it's coloured with a mix of promarkers and water colour pencils, matted and layered using card from my stash. The hearts are diecuts (not sure what make) that I cut using my Cuttlebug, the black lines are all hand drawn (by me) and a little bit of glamour dust to the smaller two hearts. You can't see it in the photo but the white card used in the layering is embossed with white hearts of varying sizes (it was bought that way).
